Burns Night at The Catford House!

This Sunday 25th January sees The Catford House host Burns Night! For those who've not heard of Burns Night, it's a celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns, the author of many Scots poems including the famous Address to a Haggis!

"Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,

Great chieftain o' the pudding-race!"

There'll be a Scots singalong from 6.30pm, a piper to get us all in the mood for some tartan tunes, and an amazing themed food offer from Donnini Pizza.

The Haggis Pie, Saltire Pizza, and Haggis Empanadas can all be made with vegan ingredients.

Additionally, the Haggis Pie and Haggis Empanadas can be made with gluten free ingredients. Food will be served until approximately 10pm.

NB Pub favourites Tiki & Spice will be popping up in the pub garden on Saturday 24th Jan 😊

Yarn Destash Success

We had a fantastic turnout at The Catford House New Year yarn destash, which was organised by Barge Knitters and Destasher.

£337 was raised for Dementia UK through ticket sales, an amount that will be matched by The Access Group, effectively doubling the total to £674!

There was a wonderful community spirit throughout the afternoon, with people keen to connect with one another, and the sip & stitch tables were really busy for the duration of the event. We hope we can host another event like this in the future.

Board Game and Book Callout

We've got a fantastic donated book case in the main pub just waiting to be filled with your old literary favourites. Bring in a book and swap it out for another, and we'll hopefully build up a nice library collection.

We're also on the hunt for pre-loved board games. Just let our staff know if you've got anything you'd like to give to the pub and we can stash it on the shelves for everyone to enjoy. Thankyou! Chess night anyone?

Our Catford House Community Programme has kicked off with a trial run of sewing workshops.

Our Tuesday evening Scrap 'n Stitch sessions share projects that can be rustled up with fabric remnants to help reduce textile waste.

Our beginners' daytime class is for anyone wanting to have a go at making clothes from scratch. If you're interested in checking out what's on offer please click on our website. We hope to programme more courses soon.
