With the autumn opening of The Catford House soon approaching, we thought it might be useful to put together some frequently asked questions, to keep you all in the loop. WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG ?

We know you're all eager for us to open as soon as possible. Well, we're pleased to say that the wait is nearly over! Here's a bit of background to read in the meantime.

The former Catford Constitutional Club was forced to close in August 2019 due to structural and safety issues. A contract for refurbishment of this much-loved council-owned asset was awarded in September 2022.

Restoring a heritage building of this scale and importance (it's one of the oldest buildings in Catford town centre) is a complex process, as anyone who’s had experience of building work will attest.

The now nearly complete transformation, which is supported by a £1.8 million contribution from the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund, has been led by Turner Works and Hayatsu architects, and marks a major milestone in Phase 1 of the Catford Town Centre Framework.

WHEN ARE YOU OPENING?

We’re really pleased to be opening to the public this autumn - 2025!

WILL IT BE A PROPER PUB?

Absolutely! We know that’s what people in Catford really want and we’ve got a great offer from London-based brewing companies and vintners including Portobello, Ignition Brewery and Davy’s. Catford Rhum Arrange, Catford Gin,  Barnsole, D&L, and Good Koffee.

WHAT WILL YOUR OPENING HOURS BE?

We're initially planning to open evenings during the week, with full day opening at the weekends, while we get to know weekday demand. We’ll take private bookings around and outside of these times too (see below). In due course we’ll look to extend our hours.

WILL YOU BE SERVING FOOD?

In the first instance we’ll have a limited bar food offer, and hopefully pop-ups in the garden. Once our kitchen is completed, our pub meal offer will follow.

CAN WE HIRE SPACE?

Yes, you can! We’ll be offering a sliding scale of prices for different sized rooms with rates aimed at making the spaces accessible to private individuals, businesses and community groups. Drop us a line if you want to enquire.
